Jim returned to his hometown of Visalia and joined the Valley Oaks Golf Course staff as a Teaching Professional in 2020. He brings with him over 35 years of teaching experience garnered working as a P.G.A. Professional at multiple premier clubs across California and in the greater Chicago area.
Jim began playing golf at age 11. Soon thereafter, golf became his passion, and he went on to become a standout golfer at Mt. Whitney High School and then College of the Sequoias. Along the way, Jim captured several championship titles including W.Y.L Individual League Champion, two-time C.I.F. Area Champion, Tulare County Junior Champion, and medalist at a California qualifying event for and a participant in the U.S.G.A. Junior Amateur Championship.
After college, Jim turned professional and spent some time experiencing the life of a touring golf pro before beginning his P.G.A. Apprenticeship. In 1991, Jim was elected to full P.G.A. “Class A Membership”.
Jim states, “Visalia has always been a great golf town. Most of what I have and what I have experienced is directly connected to growing up playing golf here and the great friendships developed during that time. At this point in my life, it’s my intention to pay forward what I was given by sharing my experience as a Teaching Professional with the golfers in this area. I have a particularly strong desire to help any kid who wants to play in any way I can.”
